Senior Electrical Engineer in France

Purpose of the Job:

This role is based in France and is responsible for the delivery of electrical engineering design packages on data centre and mission-critical projects in France and wider European markets.

Working under the direction of the Principal Electrical Engineer, the role produces and coordinates high-quality electrical designs that meet French regulatory requirements, international standards and client expectations from concept through construction support.

The successful candidate will:

1. Deliver electrical design packages on data centre and mission-critical projects
2. Carry out electrical calculations and power system studies
3. Coordinate with other disciplines, clients and contractors
4. Support and guide Junior Engineers
5. Support construction-stage technical queries and site activities

Job Accountabilities:

Design Delivery

1. Produce electrical designs, calculations, specifications, schematics and reports.
2. Deliver design across all French project phases (ESQ, APS, APD, PRO, DCE) and support ACT, VISA, DET and AOR stages.
3. Design HTA / BT distribution, UPS, generator, switchgear, busbar, small power, lighting and containment systems.
4. Carry out cable sizing, load schedules, selectivity and short circuit studies.
5. Ensure designs comply with French regulations, international standards and client requirements.

Project Coordination

1. Coordinate with mechanical, fire, controls, structural and architectural disciplines.
2. Participate in design reviews, workshops and client meetings.
3. Manage own deliverables to programme and quality standards.
4. Prepare technical input for Enedis grid connection and permitting submissions.

Technical Support (Construction & Delivery Stage)

1. Respond to construction-stage technical queries and review contractor submittals (VISA).
2. Attend site visits and factory acceptance tests (FAT) as required.
3. Support commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) reviews.

People Development

1. Mentor and review the work of Junior Engineers.
2. Contribute to technical standards and continuous improvement within the team.

Technical Knowledge:

Strong knowledge and hands-on experience required across:

1. Data Centre and mission-critical facility design.
2. Electrical resilience and redundancy philosophies (N+1, 2N, Concurrent Maintainability).
3. HTA / BT distribution, UPS, generators and critical power distribution.
4. Electrical calculation software (e.g. Caneco, ETAP, Dialux).
5. Revit / AutoCAD and BIM coordination.
6. NF C 15-100, NF C 13-100 / NF C 13-200, EN / IEC 61439, Enedis / RTE grid connection procedures, ICPE requirements and international standards (Uptime Institute, EN 50600).

Qualifications & Education

1. Dipl me d'Ing nieur or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

1. 6 10 years of relevant consultancy or design experience.
2. Data Centre / mission-critical project experience strongly preferred.
3. Experience delivering projects in France across all design phases.

Knowledge & Skills

1. Fluent French and good working English (written and spoken).
2. Sound knowledge of French electrical regulations and standards.
3. Strong technical, coordination and communication skills.
4. Ability to manage own workload and guide junior team members.
