Engineer / Senior Engineer


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineer or Senior Engineer to join a growing residential development business. Working within the Technical team, you will play a key role in supporting projects from initial land appraisal through to construction completion and final adoption.


The successful candidate will provide technical support across a range of residential developments, coordinating engineering and infrastructure solutions throughout the planning, design and delivery stages. This position will involve managing external consultants and specialist contractors while ensuring developments are technically robust, commercially viable and practical to construct.


Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate external consultants responsible for highways, drainage, structural engineering, foundations, pump stations and other infrastructure designs.
• Review engineering proposals and drawings, identifying buildability, programme and cost implications and providing technical feedback where required.
• Obtain and coordinate technical information and drawing packages for statutory submissions and approvals.
• Procure and assess utility quotations, ensuring the most suitable and cost-effective solutions are secured.
• Liaise with utility providers regarding diversions, upgrades and new service installations, managing associated costs, programmes and pre-start requirements.
• Coordinate foundation designs, suspended floor solutions, schedules and technical details required to support construction activities.
• Review geotechnical reports and ground investigations, identifying any remediation, protection or enabling works necessary to facilitate development.
• Manage specialist consultants undertaking site investigations, testing and remediation works, ensuring planning conditions and technical requirements are satisfied.
• Review ecological and Arboriculture reports and coordinate any actions required prior to commencement of site operations.
• Work closely with environmental specialists and statutory bodies regarding protected species and related site constraints.
• Support adoption processes with local authorities, including inspections, technical approvals, as-built information, certification and close-out requirements.
• Arrange and manage remedial works where necessary, coordinating contractors and consultants to achieve successful adoption.
• Coordinate drainage inspections, surveys and maintenance activities throughout construction and maintenance periods.
• Assist with resolving technical and customer-related drainage issues as they arise.
• Provide engineering support across all stages of the development lifecycle, from land acquisition through to final handover and adoption.
• Support and mentor junior members of the technical and engineering team.

Requirements

• HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• CSCS Card.
• Experience using AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of vehicle tracking software and swept path analysis.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Previous experience within residential development, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
