Role Overview

Seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a key role in delivering high‑quality mechanical building services design across a diverse and complex project portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of design delivery, lead projects, support client engagement and mentor junior engineers within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of mechanical building services including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation and public health systems

  • Produce detailed design calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports

  • Manage projects from concept through to completion, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance

  • Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies and technical assessments across varied building types

  • Coordinate closely with electrical engineers, architects, structural teams and contractors

  • Ensure designs meet all relevant regulations, standards and sustainability requirements

  • Attend client meetings, present design solutions and support technical decision‑making

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation and best practice within the design team

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong experience in mechanical building services design within the UK

  • Excellent technical understanding of HVAC and public health systems

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, IES or similar design software

  • Solid knowledge of UK building regulations and CIBSE guidelines

  • Proven ability to manage projects and deliver high‑quality design solutions

  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders

  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (desirable)
