Senior Purchasing Assistant

• Primarily responsible for identifying and sourcing new suppliers to ensure material costs are reduced where possible. Specific metals / fabrication knowledge would be an advantage.

Due to continued growth, we are working in partnership with an established engineering manufacturer to recruit a Senior Purchasing Assistant / Buyer to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experience purchasing professional with a track record of identifying and sourcing new suppliers to help reduce material costs. As prices can vary at short notice, the role is fairly fast paced in nature. Strong communication skills and relationship building with suppliers are both important qualities for this role. 

Salary: c£35,000 as a guideline (possibly flexible DOE) + 25 days holiday. Early Friday finish. 

This Senior Purchasing Assistant job will suit:

• Demonstrable experience within a purchasing / procurement environment, preferably within a manufacturing / engineering business. Specific metals / steel experience would be highly relevant. 
• Experience of raising and managing purchase orders.
• Strong supplier relationship and communication skills.
• Good commercial and negotiation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Experience using an ERP, MRP or purchasing system.
• CIPS / Purchasing related qualifications are desirable, but not essential for the right character fit. 

The Senior Purchasing Assistant job will involve:

• Raise, process and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
• Obtain and compare supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing and value for money.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, order amendments and delivery schedules.
• Monitor outstanding purchase orders and follow up on late or delayed deliveries.
• Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier and product records within the company purchasing/ERP system.
• Assist with supplier selection, onboarding and ongoing supplier management.
• Negotiate, where appropriate, pricing, delivery terms and other commercial requirements with suppliers.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

This Senior Purchasing Assistant job is commutable from Coalville, Loughborough, Leicester, Castle Donington, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Derby, Nottingham.
