Senior Service Advisor – Fleet IndustrySalary: £35,000 per annum + Benefits
Location: Dalton-in-Furness
Permanent | Full-Time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Service Advisor to join a busy and successful fleet operation.
We are looking for a confident and customer-focused individual with strong experience within commercial vehicles, HGV, fleet, automotive or transport environments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can combine technical understanding with outstanding customer service and operational coordination.
The Role
As Senior Service Advisor, you will act as a key link between customers, fleet operators, technicians and management, ensuring vehicles are booked in, repaired efficiently and returned to customers within agreed timescales.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day service and repair requirements of fleet and commercial vehicle customers.
- Act as the main point of contact for customers throughout the repair process.
- Book vehicles into the workshop and coordinate workloads with technicians and workshop management.
- Take customer bookings and accurately record vehicle defects and repair requirements.
- Provide customers with regular updates on vehicle progress, costs and completion times.
- Prepare and provide repair estimates and obtain customer authorisation.
- Liaise with technicians to understand diagnostic findings and repair requirements.
- Monitor vehicle progress to ensure jobs are completed within agreed timescales.
- Manage customer expectations and resolve any issues or complaints professionally.
- Maintain accurate job cards, documentation and service records.
- Ensure warranty, maintenance and service requirements are processed correctly.
- Monitor parts availability and liaise with the Parts Department and suppliers.
- Support the Workshop Manager with workload planning and prioritisation.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer service, workshop efficiency and vehicle turnaround times.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with company procedures, health & safety requirements and manufacturer standards.
- Support and mentor other Service Advisors where required.
The successful candidate will have previous experience within a Service Advisor, Senior Service Advisor, Workshop Controller or similar customer-facing fleet role.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience within the HGV, commercial vehicle, fleet, PSV or automotive sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Experience managing multiple customer requirements in a busy workshop environment.
- Ability to understand technical information and explain it clearly to customers.
- Strong organisational and administration skills.
- Experience preparing estimates and obtaining repair authorisation.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of workshop profitability.
- The confidence to liaise with technicians, customers, suppliers and senior management.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload.
- A professional, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Good IT skills and experience using workshop or fleet management systems.
- Previous HGV or commercial vehicle Service Advisor experience.
- Experience working with large fleet customers.
- Knowledge of fleet maintenance contracts.
- Experience with warranty claims.
- Knowledge of DVSA, MOT and vehicle compliance requirements.
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring Service Advisors.
- Commercial vehicle technical qualification.
