Senior Structural Technician
Leicester
£45k-£50k plus benefits
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Structural Technician to join a highly regarded engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering innovative, technically complex and sustainable design solutions.
Based in Leicester, with occasional travel to the Warwick office, the successful candidate will join a collaborative team of Chartered, senior, mid-level and graduate engineers. The role will offer exposure to a varied and challenging portfolio of projects, including bespoke new-build developments, complex refurbishments, heritage and conservation schemes.
The Senior Structural Technician will take responsibility for producing high-quality structural drawings and coordinated BIM models across all stages of design. Using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, they will interpret engineering sketches, calculations and design information to develop accurate and detailed construction drawings. They will also coordinate and manage BIM models, resolve technical detailing issues and work closely with engineers to ensure that design intent is accurately reflected within project information.
As a senior member of the technical team, the successful candidate will review and check the work of other technicians, provide day-to-day guidance and support, and help maintain drawing standards, templates and technical detail libraries. They will also manage drawing registers and document control on allocated projects while contributing to the successful delivery of larger and more complex schemes.
Candidates should have substantial experience within a structural engineering consultancy and possess strong technical knowledge of structural detailing and construction. Advanced Revit and AutoCAD skills are essential, together with the ability to produce accurate concept, preliminary and detailed design drawings independently. Previous experience of coordinating BIM models and reviewing the work of junior technicians would be highly advantageous.
The successful candidate will be technically capable, proactive and highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the confidence to take ownership of drawing delivery. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, contractors and other project stakeholders are also important.
Our client offers a supportive and professional working environment, with access to mentoring, structured professional development, ongoing training and opportunities to progress. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be beneficial but are not essential.
