Sports Coach - Alsager

Long-Term | Full-Time | Specialist ASD School

A specialist school in Alsager supporting pupils ASD within special school setting. They looking for a passionate Sports Coach to join their team as a Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis, with the potential for a permanent position for the right person.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Sports Coach who wants to use their passion for sport to make a genuine difference to young people's lives, supporting their education, confidence, behaviour and personal development.

As a Sports Coach working as a Teaching Assistant, you'll use sport and physical activity as a positive tool to engage pupils, develop confidence and encourage participation in education.

You'll work closely with teachers and the wider support team, providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASD and additional needs.

Sport and physical activity will be used to help pupils:

  • Build confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Develop communication and social skills
  • Improve teamwork and cooperation
  • Develop emotional regulation
  • Manage behaviour and emotions positively
  • Build positive relationships with adults and peers
  • Develop motivation and engagement
  • Recognise their strengths and achievements

Sport at the Heart of Learning

This isn't simply a sports coaching role.

You'll be working as a Teaching Assistant, supporting pupils throughout their school day while using your sporting background to engage, motivate and build positive relationships.

You could be supporting a pupil who finds traditional classroom learning challenging to discover an activity they enjoy and feel successful in.

You'll help young people develop important skills such as teamwork, resilience, communication, discipline and perseverance, while creating opportunities for them to experience success.

Working alongside teachers and specialist staff, you'll help create an environment where pupils feel safe, supported and confident enough to participate and learn.



Your Experience

We're looking for an enthusiastic Sports Coach who is interested in working as a Teaching Assistant and can build strong professional relationships with young people.

Your experience could come from:

  • Sports Coaching
  • PE Teaching or Sports Studies
  • Teaching Assistant or SEN roles
  • SEND or ASD environments
  • Alternative Provision
  • Youth Work or Mentoring
  • Children's Care or Residential Support
  • Community Sports
  • Football, rugby or other team sports
  • Personal Training or fitness
