Site Supervisor - Groundworks & Retaining Walls Working Away
£45,000 to £50,000 per annum DOE
Company van and fuel card, paid accommodation, food and drink allowance, 23 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and additional company benefits.
Location: Burntwood, Staffordshire, with projects across the UK
Full-time, Permanent
Regular working away during the week.
A well-run site starts before the first delivery arrives. The team needs to know the plan, the right plant needs to be ready, and everyone needs to understand how the work will be carried out safely. Once the job starts, it takes someone who can keep things moving.
That is where you come in.
A specialist ground engineering contractor is looking for a Site Supervisor to oversee retaining wall installations and associated groundworks. The business designs, manufactures and installs vegetated retaining wall systems, alongside hydroseeding and erosion control works.
As Site Supervisor, you will travel to projects around the country and stay away from home regularly during the working week. The company provides your accommodation, a van and fuel card, and an allowance for food and drink.
Your responsibility will be to supervise the team and organise site delivery. This Site Supervisor position is focused on managing the work, rather than carrying out the installation yourself.
About the role
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will plan daily activities, coordinate labour and deliveries, and make sure the team has the plant and materials it needs. You will check progress against the programme and inspect completed work against drawings and specifications.
Safety will be part of every day. You will make sure the team follows RAMS and site procedures, maintain good housekeeping and address issues when you see them.
You will also keep accurate site records and speak regularly with the Project Manager, clients and other site representatives. When access, deliveries or site conditions affect the plan, you will help find a practical solution.
About you
You will have experience as a Site Supervisor or Foreman in groundworks, civil engineering, construction or residential infrastructure. Retaining wall, earthworks or geotechnical experience would be useful, but it is not essential.
You will need:
SSSTS or SMSTS and a valid CSCS card.
A full UK driving licence.
The ability to lead site teams and a sound understanding of construction site safety.
Willingness to travel and stay away regularly during the week.
This would suit someone who enjoys taking responsibility for a site, setting clear expectations and seeing a job through properly. You will have an experienced operational team behind you and the chance to learn more about specialist retaining wall and erosion control systems.
