About The Role

My client based in the North East is looking for a Technical Operations Manager to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. Due to various contract locations, we will also consider applicants from North West and the Midlands

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established technical services business delivering water management, compliance, and treatment solutions across a range of regulated environments

The job is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of specialist technical projects and service activities, providing operational support, technical guidance, and client engagement to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and technical oversight across specialist projects and service operations, ensuring activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory and company standards
  • Lead, support, and develop field-based teams through coaching, mentoring, competency assessments, and hands-on technical guidance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
  • Maintain a visible presence across operational sites, conducting inspections, audits, and quality reviews while supporting complex works, critical incidents, and major project activities as required
  • Take ownership of project delivery from initial planning and mobilisation through to completion, ensuring objectives, budgets, timescales, and quality standards are achieved
  • Coordinate labour, materials, subcontractors, and other resources to support effective project execution, maintaining clear communication and high levels of customer service throughout
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation, industry guidance, and internal quality management systems, including the development and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
  • Conduct site safety inspections, compliance audits, and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions and maintaining accurate documentation to support operational excellence
  • Ensure full compliance with HSE legislation, ACOP L8, HSG274, and relevant water treatment industry standards

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience within the water treatment industry, 4 years plus
  • Strong chemical and technical knowledge of closed systems, cooling towers, boiler water treatment, pre-commission cleaning, disinfection, and remedial works
  • Experience managing and leading field-based engineers
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and technical problem-solving activities
  • Strong understanding of water hygiene and regulatory compliance requirements

Salary:

  • £43k + overtime

Hours:

  • Monday - Friday
