Job description

JOB TITLE – TRANSPORT COORDINATOR

LOCATION – HULL

We are supporting an industry leading manufacturer with the recruitment of a Transport Coordinator to join their team at the Hull site. This role plays a key part in coordinating customer deliveries, import and export activity and ensuring transport operations run smoothly, efficiently and in line with customer, regulatory and business requirements.

You will work closely with internal teams, external partners and logistics providers to deliver a reliable, cost‑effective transport service. The role requires strong organisational skills, accuracy in documentation, and the ability to respond quickly to changing operational needs across UK, European and international movements.

THE ROLE

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong transport knowledge, high attention to detail and experience coordinating deliveries within a manufacturing or logistics environment. You will plan and manage daily transport activity, support import/export processes, and ensure customer requirements are met through effective communication and proactive problem‑solving.

You’ll be responsible for coordinating deliveries using the internal fleet, managing 3PL requirements, arranging urgent courier solutions, overseeing pallet network collections, and ensuring all transport documentation is completed accurately. You will also support logistics administration, cost control and operational changes as required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and coordinating customer deliveries using the internal fleet.

  • Planning and managing 3PL transport for customers outside the local delivery area.

  • Working closely with the import broker to ensure all import documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.

  • Maintaining a strong understanding of Incoterms and applying them correctly to export operations.

  • Managing import and export activities for European and international customers.

  • Arranging ad hoc and urgent transport solutions through courier networks to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery.

  • Maintaining knowledge of automotive delivery requirements, including customer‑specific transport and packaging standards.

  • Managing pallet network collections for single‑pallet consignments, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery.

  • Processing and verifying transport and fuel invoices to support accurate cost control.

  • Coordinating and implementing changes to transport plans in response to operational or customer requirements.

  • Supporting logistics administration tasks, including holiday cover.

  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed by the Line Manager or Supervisor.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This role blends transport coordination, planning and documentation accuracy within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

We’re looking for:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing, transport operations, planning and import/export processes.

  • Experience working in a supply chain role (minimum 1 year).

  • Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.

  • Ability to adapt quickly, respond to changing requirements and manage multiple priorities.

  • Confidence communicating with internal teams, external partners and logistics providers.

  • MRP system experience (desirable).

  • Willingness to undertake training and continuous development.

Training will be provided and the job holder may occasionally be required to work at other sites.
