What you'll be doing;
- Control vehicle entry and exit at the hazardous waste site.
- Weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles accurately using site weighbridge software.
- Record vehicle, load and waste acceptance information correctly.
- Check driver driving licences and ADR licences where required.
- Verify waste transfer notes, hazardous waste consignment notes, dangerous goods notes and transfrontier shipment documentation.
- Confirm that incoming and outgoing waste matches the documented waste description and site acceptance requirements.
- Prevent non-compliant waste, vehicles or transactions from accessing the site.
- Advise drivers on site rules, PPE requirements and safe access procedures.
- Carry out site inductions where required.
- Direct vehicles to the correct areas for processing, testing, storage or treatment.
- Maintain radio communication with mobile plant operators.
- Liaise with supervisors and managers when visitors arrive on site.
- Report service, safety and environmental issues and stop work where conditions are unsafe.
- Apply the requirements of the Environmental Permit and follow the site emergency and major accident prevention plans.
- Complete all required hazardous waste site training and competency assessments.
What we're looking for;
- Experience using weighbridge, booking-in, logistics or other vehicle management software.
- Experience accurately recording vehicle weights, waste details and operational information.
- Knowledge of waste documentation, including waste transfer notes, hazardous waste consignment notes, dangerous goods notes or transfrontier shipment documents.
- Knowledge of ADR licence requirements and hazardous waste acceptance procedures.
- Previous experience in a weighbridge, waste, logistics, transport, hazardous materials or site administration role would be advantageous.
- Ability to check documentation against waste descriptions and site acceptance criteria.
- Ability to use radios and follow vehicle movement and site access procedures.
- Understanding of PPE requirements, environmental controls and safe systems of work.
- Willingness to complete hazardous waste site training, practical training and competency assessments.
- No formal qualifications are required, although relevant administration or operational experience would be beneficial.
