Job Title: Wellbeing Officer
Location: Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £100 - £120 per day

Are you passionate about supporting the physical and psychological wellbeing of secondary-aged pupils?

Do you have recent experience working with young people aged 11-18 and supporting them to overcome barriers to education?

Are you confident delivering wellbeing interventions and providing support to pupils both individually and in small groups?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a secondary academy in Birmingham that is committed to improving pupil wellbeing, achievement and access to education. The academy places a strong emphasis on safeguarding, positive mental health, self-esteem, healthy relationships and creating an engaging environment where pupils can feel supported.

The academy is looking to take on a Wellbeing Officer on a temp to perm basis, supporting pupils in lessons and delivering small-group programmes focused on wellbeing and an alternative curriculum. The successful Wellbeing Officer will work with pupils, families and school staff to improve attendance, reduce lost learning time, support reintegration into lessons and deliver targeted interventions for vulnerable pupils.

The successful Wellbeing Officer will have:

  • Relevant training and/or qualifications, with a willingness to undertake further training relevant to the role
  • Recent experience working with secondary-aged young people
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding within education
  • Experience handling sensitive information confidentially, maintaining accurate records and supporting pupils with individual needs
  • The ability to work effectively with pupils experiencing challenging behaviour and address sensitive or difficult subjects
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, with a caring, supportive and empathetic approach
