The RoleWe are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Year 4 Teacher to join our school on a part-time basis to provide maternity cover from 30th November until the end of the academic year.
The successful candidate will take on the role of main class teacher for a Year 4 class, job-sharing with the school's Deputy Headteacher. Although this is a long-term supply position, the successful teacher will be fully integrated into school life and will be expected to take ownership of the class in the same way as a permanent member of teaching staff.
The ideal working pattern is Monday to Wednesday, although there may be some flexibility for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities- Take full responsibility for the teaching, learning and progress of a Year 4 class on your allocated days.
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the National Curriculum and the school's curriculum.
- Assess pupils' progress and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.
- Maintain high expectations of behaviour, achievement and personal development.
- Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
- Work closely with the Deputy Headteacher to ensure consistency across the job-share arrangement.
- Complete planning, preparation, assessment and marking associated with the role.
- Make effective use of allocated PPA time to plan and prepare high-quality lessons and resources.
- Contribute fully to the wider life of the school.
- Build strong and positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents/carers.
- Attend and contribute to relevant parents' evenings, meetings and school events where required.
- Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour policies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and the wider school team.
The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for a teacher who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Has experience teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally Year 4.
- Has strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
- Is confident taking full ownership of a class.
- Can plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons independently.
- Has high expectations of pupil progress, behaviour and attainment.
- Is organised, reliable and able to work effectively within a job-share arrangement.
- Builds positive relationships with children, staff and parents.
- Is adaptable and able to become part of an established school community quickly.
- Has a nurturing, enthusiastic and professional approach.
- Is committed to providing consistency and continuity for pupils throughout the maternity cover period.
