Account Manager – Cleaning

Permanent, Full Time

Salary: £50,000 + company car benefit

Hours: Mon-Fri | 8am-5pm - 4 days office/site & 1 from home, with regular travel across the network.

Location: Derby, DE24 8JY

Our client, a leading provider of integrated facilities management and infrastructure solutions is hiring for an experienced Account Manager to lead the delivery of a large, multi-site cleaning contract across the East Midlands Railway network.

The contract covers approximately 100 stations, client offices, depots, train turnaround cleaning at key locations, a mobile deep-cleaning team and additional mobile cleaning services. Some stations operate 24/7, while others have varying service requirements. This is a senior operational leadership role, responsible for ensuring consistent service delivery, contractual compliance and strong performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs.

We are looking for a strong people leader with a proven background in multi-site cleaning or soft services management. You will be confident managing operational teams through management layers, maintaining service standards across a geographically dispersed contract and holding teams accountable for performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational delivery of cleaning services across network, ensuring high standards of quality, safety and compliance.
  • Directly manage a Regional Operations Manager, who oversees 4x Cleaning Managers, 1x Cleaning Supervisor and ~120 cleaning operatives, supported by agency staff where required.
  • Monitor contractual KPIs, SLAs, performance data and service standards, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Complete 6 station audits every four weeks, working collaboratively with station managers to assess performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, station managers, internal stakeholders and service delivery teams.
  • Ensure effective management of staffing, timesheets, resources and operational administration.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, contractual requirements and cleaning industry best practice.
  • Work closely with engineering and other service teams to support the wider facilities management contract.
  • Adapt operational delivery to changing business needs, service demands and the requirements of a complex railway environment.

About You

  • Strong leadership, people management and team development skills.
  • Experience managing large-scale cleaning or soft services contracts across multiple locations.
  • A good understanding of contractual compliance, KPI monitoring, SLAs and performance reporting.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly around audits, timesheets and contract administration.
  • The ability to build effective client relationships and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, service improvement and operational planning.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly across the East Midlands network.
  • Membership of BICSc and IWFM – highly desirable

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a substantial, high-profile railway cleaning contract, leading a sizeable operational team and driving consistent service delivery across a diverse network of stations, offices, depots and train cleaning operations.
