Enfield, London | £105-120 per day, depending on relevant experience

Full-time, long-term temporary; Monday to Friday, term time
Start date and exact working hours to be agreed before placement.

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a SEMH Behaviour Mentor in Enfield to support secondary pupils who need help with emotional regulation, relationships and engagement in education. You will build professional, consistent relationships and help pupils recognise patterns in their behaviour. The role combines classroom support with planned mentoring, working towards agreed goals with teaching and pastoral staff.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide structured check-ins and help pupils prepare for successful lessons.
  • Support pupils in class and encourage re-engagement following difficulties.
  • Use agreed de-escalation strategies and maintain clear, predictable boundaries.
  • Work towards individual attendance, participation and behaviour targets.
  • Record concerns, progress and interventions accurately, escalating safeguarding issues promptly.

What you will need

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH or significant behavioural needs.
  • Relevant school, PRU, alternative provision or youth work experience.
  • Ability to stay calm, reflect on behaviour and work consistently within a team.

Experience of restorative conversations, trauma-informed support or recognised behaviour training would be valuable. Please describe the settings and age groups you have supported.

This position suits a mentor who can balance empathy with firm boundaries and keep the focus on access to learning.
