Class 1 Driver

Job description

Driver Support Services are looking for experienced Class 1 HGV Drivers to join our team on a busy general haulage contract. The successful drivers will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery and collection of goods to and from customers and sites across the UK.

This is a varied role involving general haulage work, with drivers expected to maintain high standards of safety, professionalism and customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving Class 1 (C+E) vehicles safely and responsibly.

• Completing deliveries and collections in accordance with schedules.

• Carrying out vehicle safety checks and reporting any defects.

• Ensuring loads are secure and transported safely.

• Completing delivery paperwork and electronic PODs accurately.

• Maintaining compliance with drivers' hours and tachograph regulations.

• Communicating professionally with customers, depots and transport teams.

• Keeping the vehicle clean and in good working condition.

• Following all company and site health & safety procedures.

Requirements

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence.

• Valid Driver CPC qualification.

• Digital tachograph card.

• Previous HGV Class 1 driving experience preferred.

• General haulage experience is advantageous.

• Good knowledge of UK roads and transport regulations.

• Reliable, professional and safety-conscious approach.

• Good communication and customer service skills.
