Are you a qualified accountant with a property background from a top-tier or second-tier practice, ready to take your first, or next, step in industry? This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing property business as Financial Accountant with real ownership of the finance function and close exposure to senior leadership.

The company

Our client is a well-established and ambitious real estate business with a diverse portfolio across residential and commercial property. With continued growth planned, they are looking for a commercially minded Financial Accountant to strengthen the finance function and play a key role in the business's next stage of growth.

The role

Reporting to the Finance Director you will take ownership of financial reporting, controls and compliance across a multi-entity group, while acting as a trusted adviser to the wider business.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close, producing accurate management accounts and commentary for the board
  • Prepare statutory accounts across multiple SPVs and group entities, and manage the external audit process
  • Oversee group consolidation, intercompany reconciliations and balance sheet integrity
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash flow, including lender reporting and covenant compliance
  • Support property acquisitions, disposals and refinancing, including financial modelling and due diligence
  • Oversee VAT, corporation tax and other compliance matters, working with external advisers
  • Strengthen financial controls, processes and systems as the business grows
  • Manage, develop and mentor the finance team
  • Provide insight on development appraisals, rental income, service charges and portfolio performance
About you
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, ideally trained within a top-tier or second-tier practice
  • Strong exposure to property or real estate clients, through audit, advisory or industry experience
  • Solid technical knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and/or IFRS, including property accounting and investment property valuations
  • Experience with multi-entity group structures, consolidations and SPVs
  • Commercially minded, with the confidence to partner with senior stakeholders and challenge where needed
  • Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
