Job description
HSE ManagerNorth Yorkshire | Permanent | Full Time | Management Bonus | Hybrid Working
Ready to take ownership of HSE rather than simply maintain what’s already there?
We’re recruiting an experienced HSE Manager to take the lead on Health, Safety and Environmental performance for an established North Yorkshire manufacturing business.
This is a standalone, high-impact position offering real autonomy to influence strategy, strengthen safety culture and drive environmental improvements across a busy manufacturing site.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Take ownership of the site’s HSE strategy and improvement roadmap
- Influence Health & Safety culture from the shop floor through to senior leadership
- Lead on COSHH, DSEAR, RIDDOR, risk assessments and incident investigation
- Drive root cause analysis, CAPA and preventative improvements
- Oversee environmental compliance, including waste, effluent, utilities and packaging
- Lead contractor controls and permit-to-work systems
- Maintain audit readiness across customer, BRC and regulatory requirements
- Develop HSE reporting, KPIs and recommendations
- Coach managers and build greater ownership of safety across the business
- Drive sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be an experienced HSE professional who is confident working autonomously within a manufacturing environment and comfortable influencing people at all levels.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Strong HSE experience gained within manufacturing
- NEBOSH Diploma, or currently working towards it
- Strong knowledge of COSHH, DSEAR, RIDDOR and risk management
- Experience leading incident investigations, root cause analysis and CAPA
- Environmental compliance and management systems experience
- Strong auditing and HSE reporting capability
- The confidence to challenge, coach and influence operational teams
- Food, FMCG or fast-paced manufacturing experience would be advantageous
- Knowledge of BRC, ISO 14001 and ATEX would be beneficial
- CMIOSH status, or progress towards Chartered membership, would be advantageous
Why Consider This Opportunity?
You’ll be joining a stable and established manufacturing business where HSE has genuine visibility and importance.
Alongside a permanent position, you’ll receive:
- Annual management bonus
- Pension scheme
- Holiday entitlement increasing with service
- One day working from home per week following probation
- A structured handover from the current HSE Manager
- Genuine autonomy to influence HSE standards and culture
- The opportunity to make a visible, measurable impact across the site
If you’re looking for an HSE Manager position where you can take ownership, influence change and leave your mark, I’d like to hear from you.
