Job description

Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher

Location: Leicester
Salary: £179 - £255 a day
Contract: Maternity Cover
Start Date: ASAP

Clarence Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a successful and well-regarded secondary school in Leicester in its search for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and inspiring Modern Foreign Languages Teacher.
Joining a thriving and supportive languages department, the successful candidate will teach French, Spanish, German, or a combination of these languages, and will play an important role in helping pupils develop their linguistic ability, cultural understanding and confidence in communicating.

Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, well-structured Modern Foreign Languages lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring that learning objectives are clear, appropriately challenging and aligned with departmental schemes of work.

Develop students' confidence and accuracy in speaking, listening, reading and writing by using a broad range of interactive activities, authentic resources and purposeful opportunities to communicate in the target language.

Prepare lessons and learning materials that reflect the national curriculum, the school's expectations and current GCSE specifications, enabling pupils to build the knowledge, vocabulary and examination skills needed to make strong progress.

Monitor and assess students' progress through effective questioning, classwork, homework and formal assessment, maintaining accurate records and providing timely, constructive feedback that helps each learner understand how to improve.

Work collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum planning, shared resources and departmental priorities, while contributing to language clubs, cultural events, trips or other enrichment activities where appropriate.

Adapt teaching, resources and levels of support to meet a wide range of learning needs, using effective differentiation to provide additional guidance where required and meaningful challenge for higher-attaining pupils.

Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification that enables you to teach within a UK secondary school setting.

Recent and relevant experience of teaching French, Spanish, German, or a combination of languages, ideally across Key Stages 3 and 4 and with an understanding of GCSE course requirements.

Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, with the ability to establish clear routines, maintain a calm and focused learning environment, and motivate pupils to achieve their best.

A genuine passion for language learning and cultural awareness, together with the enthusiasm to make lessons relevant, enjoyable and accessible to students with differing levels of confidence and ability.

Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills, including the ability to build positive professional relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and carers.

An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to complete a new enhanced DBS application and the necessary safeguarding and compliance checks before starting the placement.

What We Offer
A competitive daily rate that reflects your qualifications, classroom experience and subject expertise, with clear information about pay and placement arrangements from the outset.

The opportunity to join a welcoming and collaborative school community where staff are supported, professional contributions are recognised and the progress and wellbeing of pupils remain central.

Access to a well-resourced Modern Foreign Languages department with established schemes of work, suitable teaching materials and supportive colleagues who will help you settle quickly into the role.

Opportunities to broaden your experience, take on additional responsibility where appropriate and build evidence that supports the next stage of your teaching career.

Dedicated support from Clarence Recruitment throughout the process, including guidance with registration and compliance, preparation for the placement, regular check-ins and responsive assistance for the duration of your assignment.
