SEN Teacher

St Albans, Hertfordshire | £175-220 per day, depending on relevant experience

Full-time, long-term temporary; Monday to Friday, term time
Start date and exact working hours to be agreed before placement.

Prospero Teaching is seeking a SEN Teacher in St Albans to deliver accessible, purposeful learning for pupils with SEND. You will plan around pupils' starting points, communication needs and EHCP outcomes, balancing academic learning with independence and personal development. Applications are welcome from specialist teachers and mainstream teachers with substantial experience adapting teaching for pupils with additional needs.



Your responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons with clear, achievable learning goals.
  • Adapt resources, communication and classroom routines for individual learners.
  • Assess small steps of progress and use evidence to shape future teaching.
  • Direct teaching assistants effectively and agree consistent support strategies.
  • Contribute to reviews and communicate with families, the SENCO and relevant professionals.


What you will need

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant classroom teaching experience.
  • Evidence of adapting the curriculum successfully for pupils with SEND.
  • Strong assessment, classroom organisation and positive behaviour support skills.

Experience with autism, communication needs or a specialist curriculum is desirable. Please outline the age groups and learning needs you have taught.

This is a classroom teaching position with planning, assessment and team coordination responsibilities; it suits a teacher motivated by individual pupil progress.
