SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)Location: Congleton, Cheshire
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Until Christmas 2026 in the first instance, with the potential for extension should both the school and candidate be happy
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are seeking a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Congleton. The successful candidate will work on a full-time basis providing 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop socially and emotionally, and achieve their full potential within the classroom environment.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and making a positive difference to a child's educational journey.
Key Responsibilities- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs.
- Support the pupil's academic, social and emotional development throughout the school day.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other support staff to implement learning strategies and interventions.
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the individual needs of the child.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence where appropriate.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff regarding the child's development and engagement.
- Assist with personal care requirements if required.
- Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Support the child during lessons, breaktimes, educational visits and other school activities as required.
- Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a school, care or similar setting.
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to follow guidance and implement support plans effectively.
- Experience supporting children with needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH needs, or other additional learning needs would be advantageous.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them to thrive.
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential.
- A supportive and welcoming staff team.

- Potential for the role to be extended beyond Christmas should the placement be successful for both the school and the candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
