Candidate required: Site Manager
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Start date: ASAP / Negotiable
  • Industry: Construction
  • Location: Isle of Wight
  • Projects: Commercial, Healthcare & Residential
  • Project values: Up to £8m
  • Contracts: JCT
The role & about the client

ITS Construction Professionals South are working with a well-established, privately owned construction and design & build company operating across the Isle of Wight.

The business has a strong pipeline of projects across the commercial, healthcare and residential sectors, with individual project values up to approximately £8m.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager on a permanent basis.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working for a smaller business, taking ownership of their projects and working closely with the Contracts and Project Management teams from start through to completion.
Ideally, you will already be based on the Isle of Wight and looking to build a long-term career with a local contractor.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of projects on site.
  • Managing subcontractors, trades, labour, materials and site logistics.
  • Planning and coordinating works to ensure projects are delivered safely and to programme.
  • Reviewing construction drawings, specifications and design information.
  • Managing site health & safety, including RAMS, inductions, toolbox talks and inspections.
  • Monitoring quality and ensuring works are completed to the required standards.
  • Working closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager and design team.
  • Coordinating subcontractors and resolving technical and site-based issues.
  • Monitoring progress against the programme and identifying potential delays.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders.
  • Maintaining accurate site records and project documentation.
  • Managing snagging, completion and handover.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in line with JCT contract requirements and company procedures.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Proven experience working as a Site Manager within the construction industry.
  • Experience delivering projects within the commercial, healthcare and/or residential sectors.
  • A strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and site management.
  • Experience working on projects up to approximately £8m.
  • Good knowledge of subcontractor management and site coordination.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety, quality and programme management.
  • Comfortable reading drawings, specifications and construction information.
  • Experience working under JCT contracts.
  • SMSTS qualification – essential.
  • CSCS qualification appropriate for the role.
  • First Aid qualification would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, practical approach with the ability to resolve problems on site.
  • Ideally living on the Isle of Wight or with a genuine commitment to working locally.
The opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join a small, established construction business where you will have genuine responsibility for delivering projects rather than being one of many layers of site management.

You will be joining a business with a varied project portfolio across commercial, healthcare and residential construction, with the opportunity to work on projects from pre-start through to completion.

For the right Site Manager, this offers a stable permanent position, local projects and the opportunity to build a long-term future with a respected Isle of Wight contractor.
