Technical Manager – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
East & West Sussex
£60,000
Permanent

Join a growing, well-established engineering business delivering commercial cooling, heating and refrigeration solutions across the region. This hands-on Technical Manager role bridges the office and field, providing technical leadership while developing engineers and apprentices.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality and compliance while supporting continued business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and supervise engineers and apprentices.
  • Provide senior technical support on complex faults, commissioning and system design.
  • Carry out site surveys, technical scopes and equipment selections.
  • Oversee F-Gas compliance, RAMS, safety audits and quality standards.
  • Support REFCOM Elite requirements and maintain audit-ready records.
  • Plan PPM, reactive and project work with the office team using JobLogic.
  • Support tenders, technical method statements and client meetings.
  • Monitor job costs, identify remedial opportunities and manage technical complaints.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • 7+ years’ commercial AC/refrigeration engineering experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience supervising or leading engineers.
  • F-Gas Category 1 and NVQ Level 3 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or equivalent.
  • Strong fault-finding experience across split, VRF/VRV and heat pump systems.
  • Proven chiller experience, including scroll, screw or water-cooled systems.
  • SSSTS/SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely and TM44/energy assessment experience.
  • Strong communication, organisation and commercial awareness.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience using job management software; JobLogic experience is advantageous.
