Location: East Sussex
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, standard warehouse operating hours

We are recruiting on behalf of an established client for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to take day-to-day responsibility for warehouse operations and a small team.
This is a hands-on supervisory position suited to someonewho is organised, proactive and confident taking ownership. You will oversee the day-to-day workload, coordinate packing and dispatch activity, support a small warehouse team and work closely with the wider Operations function to ensure deadlines are met.

The Role
You will be responsible for coordinating the daily warehouse operation, allocating work and ensuring packing and dispatch activities are completed accurately and on time.
You will act as a key point of contact between the warehouse and Operations, keeping colleagues informed of workload, progress, potential delays and any issues requiring attention.
The role combines team supervision with practical warehouse work, so you will be expected to lead from the front and get involved when required.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Daily Planning
  • Allocate daily duties and set priorities according to operational requirements.
  • Plan upcoming workload and collections, adapting priorities as circumstances change.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to warehouse team members.
  • Address performance or conduct concerns appropriately and escalate where required.
  • Monitor attendance and identify when additional resource may be required.
  • Lead by example and ensure the team remains productive throughout the day.
  • Support a range of practical warehouse tasks and activities as required.
Packing & Dispatch
  • Take ownership of priority packing jobs and ensure agreed deadlines are achieved.
  • Ensure all goods are checked accurately before dispatch.
  • Maintain high standards of packing accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies promptly to relevant teams.
  • Highlight missing or unavailable components early to minimise delays.
  • Keep colleagues updated on packing progress, workload and potential issues.
Stock & Warehouse Organisation
  • Complete regular stock checks and monitor consumable levels.
  • Highlight stock requirements before items become unavailable.
  • Take responsibility for returned and second-hand stock, ensuring it is appropriately sorted, stored and accessible.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and presentable warehouse and yard.
  • Delegate restocking, sorting, tidying and stock-related tasks during quieter periods.
  • Ensure the warehouse team remains productively occupied when priority packing work is complete.
Health & Safety
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety across the warehouse and yard.
  • Ensure appropriate procedures and PPE requirements are followed.
  • Challenge unsafe practices and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Ensure forklift and equipment checks are completed and defects are reported.
  • Ensure forklifts are operated only by appropriately trained and authorised personnel.
  • Support workplace inspections and follow through on any required actions.
Communication & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with the Operations team.
  • Keep colleagues informed of progress, issues and potential delays.
  • Contribute constructively to operational meetings and discussions.
  • Identify practical opportunities to improve warehouse layout, storage, workflow and efficiency.
  • Keep track of warehouse improvement activities and ongoing tasks.
  • Focus on finding practical solutions and improving processes when issues arise.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
  • Positive, hardworking and team-focused.
  • Comfortable taking ownership and responsibility.
  • Proactive, reliable and able to use their own initiative.
  • A confident communicator who is comfortable giving direction and constructive feedback.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Focused on accuracy and getting work completed to the required standard.
  • Willing to learn, develop product knowledge and improve processes.
  • Physically capable of carrying out the practical requirements of a warehouse environment.
  • Competent and appropriately licensed to operate the required forklift equipment.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous warehouse experience.
  • Previous experience supervising, supporting or leading other team members.
  • A full driving licence.
  • Experience using warehouse, stock or inventory systems.
Product & Process Training
Full training will be provided, but you will need to be someone who is genuinely interested in learning the products, processes and systems involved.
You will be expected to ask questions, seek clarification and develop a strong understanding of the products and associated documentation. There may also be opportunities to gain practical product knowledge through involvement with installation projects.
The more you understand the products and processes, the better equipped you will be to identify potential issues and maintain high packing standards.

Working Environment
This is a practical warehouse role involving work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year. You should therefore be comfortable working in a range of weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet and windy weather.
Appropriate PPE and workplace procedures must be followed, with sensible measures taken around hydration, warming, cooling and breaks as required.
The role may occasionally require flexibility around finishing times where operational requirements mean work needs to be completed. Any additional hours required will be agreed in advance.

What Success Looks Like
In this role, success will mean:
  • Packing and dispatch deadlines are consistently achieved with a high level of accuracy.
  • Potential issues are identified and communicated early.
  • The warehouse remains clean, organised and well managed.
  • Stock, returned items and second-hand materials are kept under control.
  • The warehouse team remains productive throughout the working day.
  • Strong relationships are maintained with the wider Operations team.
  • You develop a good understanding of the products and processes.
  • You take genuine ownership of the warehouse and contribute ideas that improve efficiency.
