Destination Education is currently working with a range of welcoming and supportive mainstream primary schools across Newham and the surrounding areas, and we are expecting a variety of exciting SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities to become available.
For this particular opportunity, we are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with
extensive SEN experience who is confident providing high-quality support to pupils with additional needs. The role will involve working closely with pupils within a mainstream primary school, helping them access learning, develop independence, build confidence, and make positive progress.
We work on
full-time, part-time, and supply opportunities, so even if full-time isn't the right fit for you, we'd still love to hear from you. Supply can be a great way to get yourself something fixed, giving you the opportunity to experience different schools and potentially secure a longer-term or permanent position.
Key Responsibilities- Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
- Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
- Use your SEN experience to provide consistent and individualised support.
- Help pupils develop their confidence, independence, and social skills.
- Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.
- Support positive behaviour and create an inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
The Ideal Candidate- Has extensive experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Has previous experience working within a primary school setting.
- Is confident providing 1:1 and small-group SEN support.
- Has a strong understanding of the importance of individualised support.
- Is patient, caring, resilient, and consistent.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can build strong and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential.
