Design Engineer
Location: Coventry
Salary: Up to £42,500 + benefits
Hours: 37 per week – Monday to Thursday 8:00–16:30, Friday 8:00–13:00

The company
Our client is a long-established Coventry engineering manufacturer, designing and building precision products for customers in the UK and around the world. They are growing their engineering team and want a Design Engineer to start as soon as possible.

The role

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, from concept through to production
• Produce 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings to recognised standards (GD&T)
• Carry out engineering calculations, including stress analysis
• Support customer specials and application engineering requests
• Work closely with production, quality and purchasing to make sure designs can be manufactured at the right cost
• Manage engineering change, BOMs and documentation
• Help with prototype build, testing and validation

About you

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Proven experience as a Design Engineer in a manufacturing setting
• Strong 3D CAD skills in any package. SolidWorks is desirable but not essential, as skills transfer and training is available
• Good grasp of manufacturing processes, materials and tolerancing
• Driveline, gearbox or transmission experience is a bonus but not required
• Practical, detail-focused, and able to manage several projects at once
